TAX DEED
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS That I, William D. Cross, of the Town of Charlestown, in the State of Rhode Island, Collector of Taxes for said Town of Charlestown, send Greeting:
WHEREAS, the Board of Assessors of said Town, as of the third-first day of December, A. D. 1959 at twelve o'clock a.m. made their annual valuations on all the ratable real estate and tangible personal property and the ratable intangible personal property in said Town and whereas said Board of Assessors before the third-first day of December, A. D. 1959 validated said valuations and the same were entered in the assessment books of said Town and notices of the same were given as is usually the case in said Town and the same were placed in said Town of Board said Town, Board of Assessors did add to said Town of Charlestown, in the State of Rhode Island, and to said Town of Westerly, in the County of Washington, in the State of Rhode Island, the ad valorem tax for the year 1960 and the state tax for the year 1960 and the county tax for the year 1960 adding ton Town of Westerly, in the County of Washington, once each week for three successive weeks next preceding the time and place of said meeting, until the said tax was laid and the same was laid on the third-first day of December, A. D. 1959 after December 31, 1959 at twelve o'clock noon and its became due on January 31, 1960 at 12:00 o'clock p. m., a true and exact account of the amount of said tax due from each person and estate, noted notices of the same were given as is usually the case in said Town of such real and personal estate, noted notices being published in the Westerly Sun on December 21, 1959, December 28, 1959, January 2, 1960 and January 11, 1960;
AND WHEREAS, the Electors of the Town of Charlestown, qualified to vote on an proposition to impose a tax in Town of Charlestown, at a meeting held on April 5, A. D. 1960, by a Resolution, elected and approved the levy of a collection of a tax on the ratable real estate and tangible personal property and ratable intangible personal property of said Town as of the thirty-first day of December, A. D. 1959 at twelve o'clock a.m. and to be collected in accordance with the directions contained in said Resolution and at the time and place of payment as provided by law;
AND WHEREAS, the Board of Assessors of said Town in accordance with said levy as ordered by said Electors of said Town did apportion said tax levy on the inhabitants of said Town and all the ratable property thereto appurtenant under the said assessment based on the valuations of said property as of the thirty-first day of December, A. D. 1959 at twelve o'clock a.m. and in accordance with law, at the rate of $8.39 on each $100 of the valuation, inclusive of the intangible personal property, and at the rate of $7.35 on each $100 of the valuation of the tangible personal property, and at the rate of $1.04 on each $100 of the valuation of the intangible personal property and the sum proportionment to raise the sum of not less than $179,254.00 nor more than $179,254.00, all in accordance with said Resolution of said Electors;
AND WHEREAS, the said tax was collected in due form delivered to me as Collector aforesaid by the Town Treasurer of said Town with a warrant under the ward of the said Treasurer directing me, attempting to proceed and collect the several sums of money there mentioned and described;
WHEREAS, said Board of Assessors of said Town did then and thereupon assess and lay upon Matthew E. Klimek, as a person or estate due the sum of $10.00 as your the real estate hereinafter described, and whereas said tax has not been paid;
And in consequence thereof i said William D. Cross, Collector as aforesaid, by virtue of authority vested in me as an officer competent to raise the taxes of said Town, gave notice of the time and place of sale of said real estate by publishing the same in the Westerly Sun, a newspaper published in the City of Westerly, County of Washington, Rhode Island in the successive numbers of November 22, November 29, December 6, 1961 and December 13, 1961 and whereas said notice was published in said newspaper in accordance with statutory provisions pertaining to such notice, and did also give a like for period prior to sale, post up printed notice in Four public places in said Town, to wit: at the Town Hall, at the Post Office, at the Charlestown General Store, at Charlestown, Wright's Garage, Carolina, R.I., and the Post Office at Charlestown, R.I., all located in said Town of Charlestown, that the estate of Matthew E. Klimek, would be sold at the Town Hall in said Town of Charlestown, to the highest bidder thereof and said sale would be made under the hammer with interest, costs and expenses accrue thereto, by sale would be conducted at the public hours in the Town Hall in said Town of Charlestown on Friday the 21st day of December, A. D. 1961 at one o'clock p. m. (Eastern Standard Time) and whereas a copy of such notice was delivered to said Matthew E. Klimek and here made part;
AND WHEREAS i said William D. Cross, Collector as aforesaid, did cause notice of the sale or notices were served in accordance and place of sale to issue to Matthew E. Klimek, upon whose notice said notice was served in accordance with statutory provisions for giving such notice, and did also send a copy of such notice with stamped return mail, request return receipt addressed to said Matthew E. Klimek, R.F.D. 4, White Sands, Trailer Court, Riviera Beach, Florida, Mas last known address, on November 13, 1961 and said notice was served in accordance with the law;
AND WHEREAS, on the twenty-first day of December, A. D. 1961 at one o'clock, p. m., Eastern Standard Time, did I, in my capacity as Collector as aforesaid, said on the 21st day of December, A. D. 1961 at one o'clock, p. m., Eastern Standard Time, did I, in my capacity as Collector as aforesaid, said on the 21st day of December, A. D. 1961 at one o'clock, p. m., Eastern Standard Time, did I, in my capacity as Collector as aforesaid, said on the 21st day of December, A.
