AFFIDAVIT RE Heirs-AT-LAW
OF
JOHN G. WILCOX AND HERBERT WILCOX
STATE OF RHODE ISLAND
COUNTY OF WASHINGTON
I, Jessie W. Bliss, nee Jessie W. Wilcox, of South Kingstown, Rhode Island, being first duly cautioned
and sworn, utter cognizance and say of my own knowledge as Follows:
1. I am the only child born of the marriage of Herbert Wilcox and Jennie E. (Whaley)
Wilcox; my father's mate, Herbert Wilcox, died intestate, i. e., leaving no Last Will
and Testament, on June 14, 1934, a domiciled resident of the Town of Charlestown,
Rhode Island, leaving surviving him, besides my said mother, Jennie E. Wilcox,
who is still living and I, the deponent, as his sole surviving child and heir-at-law.
2. By a deed dated March 3, 1885 and recorded in the Land Evidence Records of mid
Town of Charlestown, Rhode Island in Book 13 page 41, one Charles T. Chapman
conveyed to my Grandfather, John G. Wilcox, a certain farm with a dwelling thereon,
located in the vicinity of the south side of the road, so called, in and by the Town of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and to which deed and to such record reference is hereby
made for a more particular description.
3. My said Grandfather, John G. Wilcox, died intestate on January 6, 1918, a domiciled
resident of said Town of Charlestown, Rhode Island, leaving surviving him my father,
said Herbert Wilcox, and two other sons, John A. Wilcox and Howard P. Wilcox, as his
sole surviving children and heirs-at-law.
4. Said Herbert Wilcox, my father and John A. Wilcox and Howard P. Wilcox, were the only
children born of the marriage of my said grandfather, John G. Wilcox and Grandmother
Martha Bonne the Wilcox. My said Grandmother, Martha Bonne the Wilcox, predeceased my
said Grandfather.
5. Upon the death of my said Grandfather, John G. Wilcox, the above described
real estate became that property devolved by law upon my said Grandfather, John G. Wilcox
to Jane M. Whitney by deed dated April 3, 1899 and recorded in Book 13 at page 39
and 32 of the Land Evidence Records of said Town of Charlestown, Rhode Island vested in
my said father, Herbert Wilcox, and my uncles, John A. Wilcox and Howard P. Wilcox, in
equal shares.
6. All the debts of my said Grandfather, John G. Wilcox and my father, Herbert Wilcox, and
the expenses of their respective funerals and interments have been paid in full and
there were and are no inheritance, estate or succession taxes payable on my account
of their respective estates, nor on my account of said real estate, as their individual
total estates were insufficient to warrant the assessment of any such taxes by any
taxing authority.
JESSIE W. BLISS
