549 hand of said Treasurer hereto affixed, commanding me to proceed and collect the several sums of money therein expressed of the persons and estates liable therefor, and WHEREAS, said Board of Assessors did then and there assess and apportion said levy upon Ellen M. Grover a portion of the said tax, the sum of $2.59 as tax upon the real estate hereinafter described, and whereas said tax has not been paid. NOW THEREFORE in consequence thereof I, said William D. Cross, Collector as aforesaid, by virtue of authority vested in me as aforesaid and pursuant to the statutes in such case provided, gave due notice for three weeks prior to the sale of the premises, by posting notices in the Town of Charlestown, County of Washington State of Rhode Island, in the issue of October 16, October 23, November 1 and November 8, 1956, there being no newspaper published in the Town of Charlestown, and did also for a like period post printed notices in four public places in said Town, viz. in the office of Ellen M. Grover, in the office of the Postmaster, in the office of the Town Clerk of Charlestown, in the Office of the Post Office, and the Post Office, all in the Town of Charlestown, R.I., all located in said Town of Charlestown and in such manner as provided by law, and so much or so mucher as paid would satisfy the taxes, interest and costs, expenses or expenses, thereof would be sold at public sale on the 17th day of November A. D. 1956 at 1 o'clock p.m. (Eastern Standard Time), a copy of which said notice is attached hereto and made part hereof. AND WHEREAS I, said William D. Cross, Collector as aforesaid, did cause notice or notices of said tax sale and time and place of the sale to issue to Ellen M. Grover, upon whose said notice or notices were served in accordance with the law, and did also by registered mail, return receipt requested, address to Ellen M. Grover at her last known address, on October 11, 1956, said notice containing notice of the time and place of sale. AND WHEREAS, no person appearing to redeem said estate or pay said taxes, I, in my capacity as Collector as aforesaid, did on the 17th day of November, A. D. 1956 at 1 o'clock p.m. Eastern, as Collector as aforesaid, did proceed to sell the premises, pursuant to said notice and levy, pro rata, at the taxes, interest, and costs, expenses or expenses, to William A. Prescott and Virginia P. Choiniere and said William A. Prescott and Virginia P. Choiniere, being the highest bidders therefore, I did sell and convey the same, free of the Town of westerly, N. I., they being the highest bidders therefore, and I did execute and deliver a deed to said parties, the consideration of which was the sum of $21.59 being the amount of the taxes, interest and expenses of the said sale. NOW THEREFORE, I, William D. Cross, Collector of Taxes as aforesaid, in consideration of the receipt of the sum of $21.59 to me paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and pursuant to the statutes in such case provided, do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey, with warranty, the land and premises comprising Prescott Lot No. 11 on Assessors Plat 5, in the Town of Charlestown, Rhode Island. TO HAVE and TO HOLD the same with all the privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to said William A. Prescott and forever said William A. Prescott, their heirs and assigns forever, to them and theirs for their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever, subject, however, to all rights of redemption provided by law.
