Know all men by these presents That I Gordon Ke Hoopie
of Saharistan in the county of Washington and State of Rhode
Island for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred and
fifty five dollars and well and truly paid by Abby La Griffin
of Probity in the county and state aforesaid the receipt whereof
is hereby acknowledged by these presents do give bargain
sell convey and bargain unto the said Abby La Griffin her
heirs and assignses forever the undivided one half part of
certain lots viz a parcel of land with the buildings and
improvements thereon being and being in said Saharistan
containing by estimation being five acres be the same
more or less and bounded Southerly by land of Bowen Briggs
easterly by land of Billings D Machabel Southerly by land
of Sarah H Heath and westerly by land of the heirs of Jerry
Baleigh and the self found in diverse otherwise bounded
To have and to hold the said granted and barganed
premises with all the privileges and appurtenances to the same
belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said grantee her
heirs and assignses forever And the said grants for myself my
any heirs residued and administrators do covenant and agree
with the said grantee her heirs and assigns that at or at
before the ensuing heir of I am the lawful owner of the above
barganed premises and am seized and possessed of the same
in buy own right as good perfect and absolute estate of
inheritance in fee simple and have good right to sell
convey and confirm the said barganed premises in manner
aforesaid And that the said demised and barganed
premises with the appurtenances are free from all encumbrances
of what name or nature soever that might in any measure
in ignite obstruct or make void this present deed
Furthermore I the said grants for myself my heirs executing
and administrators do covenant and agree the above demised
premises to the said grantee her heirs and assigns against
the lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever
forever to warrant secure and defend by these presents
the execution of this deed is such that whereas I the said
Gordon Ke Hoopie have executed my neighbors promissory note
for the sum of nine hundred and fifty five dollars bearing
even date with me and made payable to the said Abby La
Griffin on a order or demand with interest payable annually
Now therefore I the said grants a buy other person for
me shall pay said note at maturity together with the
interest thereon according to the tenor thereof then this deed
shall be and otherwise still be and remain in full force
and effect Furthermore I the said grants as
hereby constitutes and appoint the said grantee her executors
administrators and assigns my Attorney irrevocable with my
full power of substitution also reservation for me and in my
name or in their name or names at any time in case

default shall be made in the payment of said note or of the interest
due thereon, and such execute shall continue for a term of ten days
to sell at public auction the premises aforesaid, or any part thereof
they first giving twenty days notice of such sale, in one of the
publick offices aforesaid written in said town westerly and in my advance a
in their manner a manner to make and deliver to the purchaser or
purchaser thereof, any deed or deeds that may be necessary to
vest in such purchaser or purchasers an estate in fee simple
therein and on sale thereof (hereby granting unto my said attorney
power to enter or obtain such writ sale from time to time.) He
authorize said attorney to receive the amount the same may be
sold for, and after the payment of all the expenses incident to
such sale a clerk, to apply and appropriate the residue they
to the payment of the amount of principal and interest of said
note hereby secured. (I hereby agreeing that in case of a sale for
default in the payment of said interest the principal of said
note shall be deemed due and payable on the day of such sale)
accounting to me or my heirs and assigns for all sums over and
above the amount i hereby ratifying and confirming such
sale or sales as may be made of course will be made by virtue
hereof. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and seal this 16th day of June AD 1886.
