To all People to whom these Presents shall Come. I Oliver D Black of Charlestown in the County of Washington and State of Rhode- Island Send Greeting. Know Ye, That I the said Oliver D Black [illegible] for and in consideration of the sum of One Thousand dollars to me [illegible] in hand before the consenting hereof well and truly paid by Joseph H Thompson of Westerly in said County and State the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and in the aforesaid fully satisfied contented and paid; and therefore of every part and parcel do forever remise acquit and discharge give and release the said Joseph H Thompson [illegible] hereinafter called the Grantee, all that certain piece or parcel of land [illegible] situated lying and being in said Charlestown whereas a certain [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] and assign forever [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] I have known and previously acquired by and about my interest from my Father Joshua Blacks late of said Charlestown deceased, meaning and intending thereby to convey all the Real estate which I inherited from my said Father wherever situate and lying and however demised and described To have and to hold the said grant and bargained premises with all the appurtenances privileges and commodities to the same belonging or in any way appertaining to the said Joseph H Thompson him and assigns forever to him and his heirs and only their property forever and forever. And I the said Oliver D Black [illegible] for myself and my heirs executors and administrators do covenant promise grant and to with the said Joseph H Thompson [illegible] and his heirs heirs and assigns at this date of the aforesaid grant and bargain [illegible] that the above described premises and more however fully described and in the same way that the same pray a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple; and have in and of the same good right full power and lawful authority to grant bargain sell and convey and confirm the said bargained premises in manner as aforesaid. And that the said Joseph H Thompson [illegible] heirs and assigns shall and may from and time to time peaceably and quietly enjoy the said [illegible] of these presents lawfully peaceably and quietly [illegible] and that I the said Oliver D Black [illegible] and my heirs executors and administrators do covenant and engage the above demised premises and enjoy the said demised and bargained premises with the appurtenances free clear and freely and quietly duly acquitted cleared and discharged of and from all man and manner of forever or gifts grants legacies sales mortgages wills estates doweries jointures debts engagements and encumbrances of what name or nature whatsoever that in any manner or degree obstruct or make void null vacant or void the same. Furthermore I the said Oliver D Black for myself and my heirs executors and administrators do covenant and engage the above demised premises to have the said Joseph H Thompson and his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever to warrant secure and defend by these presents. In consideration of this article of deed such whereas, I the said Oliver D Black have executed my separate promissory note for the sum of One Thousand dollars and made payable to said Joseph H Thompson or order demanded having date April 18th 1867 with interest payable semiannually at eight per cent per annum Now therefore I the said Oliver D Black or any other person for me shall pay said note and interest according to the tenor thereof, this deed shall void, otherwise shall remain in full force.

308 Know all men by these presents That I the said Oliver D. Clark do hereby appoint said Joseph L. Thompson as my attorney irrevocable with full power of substitution and appointment to sell or suffer full power premises at any time after the said note or the interest thereof shall become due and demand expired for the space of ten days first giving reasonable notice of for at least three weeks in some daily newspaper printed and distr County of Washington and upon such sale shall make money of the same or in his name execute and sufficient deed or deeds of sale of premises unless the said nominal of warranty so as to vest in the purchaser or purchasers or other in file for simple the premises and may collect and secure the purchase money and after paying all the costs and expenses of such sale and other costs money then paying all sums to me said Joseph L. Thompson to pay the residue to me or my heirs and assigns hereby ratifying all things which he may legally done by me or my heirs and assigns hereby ratifying all things which he may legally done by
