112 To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting William Potter of Charlestown
in Kings county in the colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations know ye that
I the said William Potter for and in consideration of the Natural Love and affection which
I bear towards my son William Potter am by these presents given and granted and
do give and grant unto my son William Potter of Newport in the town of
Portsmouth in the province of Massachusetts Bay in New England his heirs and assigns
for his comfortable Maintenance now and for ever a certain piece of land situated
and bounded by the said Property for my son as follows to wit from the south
fully bounded by the east side of a certain alley called the common entry for William
Potter his heirs and assigns for ever a piece of land of 15 feet wide running
through the common entry and then but eastward extending by a stone wall on
Eight rods North west 15 feet and then Eastward a full rod west by 15
rods of land of a piece beginning at a stone heap by the highway from there 11 rods
Northwest there were twenty rods fenced part by stone fence from there to a road bound
by Mark & Evidences fully by 10 rods of land of 15 rods wide and partly by the south
of the river south westerly 114 feet North east for thirteen and eighteen links to a stake
of a fence from there a line running south for thirteen rods square and regular but in
and forwardly links to a stone heap and there his said son full and fair boundary marks
to be a sure sign of his right by 12 rods South westerly by an entry to a piece of
mentioning there a stone wall and there it was and ended and provided that
all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and I do grant to my son for ever going
any way appertaining to the same in any way for William Potter his heirs and assigns
for ever to be his and his heirs and their proper use for ever in law and for ever in
law that I the said William Potter did give and grant his heirs and assigns for ever
time to be and at all time for ever his heirs for ever by force and virtue of
these presents lawfully decently and duly for his use occasion
Defeat and any right of quit and demand for ever with the aforesaid
from all and all manner of persons or other guilds’ Bargains sales
and grants’ mortgages with state of liberty of the said premises for ever
and grants’ permanently in witness whereof the 17th day of March in the year of
