Received of John Stanton of the country, the Sum of one Hundred
pounds thirteen Shillings in Species for his presence Lawfull money being full & sound & paid
by the positive of the Superior Court for the Redemption of certain Lands in the Constitution heretofore
mortgaged by the said John to Benj. Staff & his heirs being said Written mortgaged to the

Be produced will fully appear after which the said Nathan Stafford brought forward
and prosecuted Action of Trespass and Replevinment against the said Stanton & Recovered
possession of the Land aforesaid and added to the writ, a sum of damages 1787
the said Nathan Stafford say his claim Said part of that land for in compensation
the said Nathan Stafford say the sum of Three Hundred & Eighty four Dollars & more over and above ten
of a Dollar covering the premises aforesaid for said JosephRoger & Smith
Roger and more under them have received the property of 4 more mentioned Lands
and premises from the Twenty Seventh day of April 1763 but by present
and said said John Stanton would further say that he bring unto
the said John Stanton the aforesaid sums of money with the Interest and pray’d
Roger and the said Stafford obtained Consent and is to be found Magister
Compiled to answer the Recitals & proofs of y^e Land and premises & and
Receive the money due upon the two several mortgages and the land to be
Discharged thereupon it is decided that y^e said Lord the Land thing are
forth to cause said Joseph Roger to come into court to answer if he shall and
the same is accordingly done and affirmed to the Court on the 11th day of the same
aforesaid have come th Joseph Roger & Smith that tells from it is
had by Joseph Stanton junior gave y^e said Prior some mortgage
for y^e knowing the payment of the money mentioned in said Deed that
the said Nathan Stafford had mortgaged premises off’r to him &
said Joseph for a much longer time than the same had mortgaged to
him, & said Stafford for the pray’d the payment of this cost whether
he be the Lands and premises unless all the Money due to him is
pay’d Or not pray’d judgment that y^e Improvements made
on y^e premises be delivered Due by way of debts & profits & etc
John Stanton prays judgment like manner and so y^e parties being
at issue divers witnesses were examined in the premises and their Deposition Duly
taken according to law special Custom of this court & by some Counting of some
